An on-screen aim box tells ChipScan exactly where to look. Line up a single stack, tap, and it reads only what is inside the box — so the room behind your table never enters the picture. That constraint is why it works.
Chips carry pale edge spots, and ChipScan uses them as a white reference — the same material, under the same light, in every shot. Measuring a chip against its own spots cancels out the room, so a green chip under a warm lamp still reads green.
Every chip shows a band of edge spots on its rim, so a stack is a ladder of repeating marks. ChipScan counts the rungs rather than guessing from the stack's height. It is most accurate on shorter stacks, and it tells you when one is tall enough to be worth splitting in two.

The count arrives pre-filled, with the rows it found drawn over the photo so you can see exactly what was counted. Nudge it up or down with one tap if it is off, then add it. Nothing joins your total without you agreeing to it.

Point the camera at a stack from a low angle, so the pattern down its side is visible, and line it up inside the aim box. There is no calibration step — ChipScan works out your table color from the shot itself.
Tap to scan. The count appears with the rows it found drawn over the frame — adjust it if it is off, pick the color if needed, and add it to your total. Then move to the next stack.
Save the session to your local history with its per-color breakdown. Everything stays on your device.
Most camera-based apps stream your frames to a server for "AI processing." ChipScan doesn't — because it doesn't need to. Classical computer vision is fast, deterministic, and inspectable.
